One week to go – Schools and workplaces across Cork urged to join Pico Lopes for GOAL Jersey Day

With just one week to go until GOAL Jersey Day 2026, proudly supported by Premier Sports, GOAL is calling on schools and workplaces across Cork to get involved in one of Ireland’s most simple and enjoyable fundraisers. 

On Friday, October 2nd, thousands of people across Ireland will swap their usual attire for their favourite sports jersey for one day only, all in support of GOAL’s humanitarian and development work in 18 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. 

GOAL Jersey Day brings people across Ireland together through a shared love of sport, while raising funds to support GOAL’s humanitarian and development work. Throughout October, people are encouraged to wear a jersey from any sport to school, work, training or simply among family and friends, and register for GOAL Jersey Day.  

Now in its 38th year, GOAL Jersey Day is a simple way to boost team spirit in the classroom or office, or even among friends and family. Everyone that gets involved can help make a real impact. Participants in 2025 helped to raise an incredible national total of €288,000 towards GOAL’s work with communities affected by conflict, climate shocks and poverty. 

Already this year, 18 schools and six workplaces in Cork have registered to take part in GOAL Jersey Day and there is still time to join in the fun. Whether you choose your county colours, your favourite soccer or rugby club, or even your national jersey, every registration will help GOAL continue to support vulnerable communities in the world’s most crisis-hit regions.  

Whether it is a GAA, soccer, rugby, basketball or hockey jersey, a school or club jersey, or simply your favourite team colours, everyone can take part.  

Shamrock Rovers and Cape Verde World Cup star Pico Lopes helped to launch GOAL Jersey Day 2026, “There’s something special about putting on your team’s jersey. It represents your club, your community and the people you share those moments with. That’s why Jersey Day is such a great initiative. Whatever team you support, get your jersey on this October and help raise funds for GOAL.”

HOW TO GET INVOLVED  

Throughout October, schools, workplaces, clubs and communities are encouraged to choose a day to wear their favourite sports jersey or team colours and raise funds for GOAL.  

Participants are encouraged to share their photos and stories on social media using #GOALJerseyDay, helping spread the word and inspire others to get involved.
